    Monday, June 19, 2017

    Pratibha Varma Nelson
Professor Pratibha Varma-Nelson has been inducted as an ACS Fellow
Congratulations to Professor Pratibha Varma-Nelson. She has been inducted as an ACS Fellow. This was announced recently on C&EN at https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/funding-and-awards/fellows/list-of-2017-acs-fellows.html

The American Chemical Society has named 65 members as ACS Fellows. The new fellows will be feted at the society’s fall national meeting in Washington, D.C., in August.

The fellows program began in 2009 as a way to recognize and honor ACS members for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and ACS.

Dr. Varma-Nelson is recognized for her notable accomplishments in science and to the ACS community.

Contribution to the science/profession: Work on face-to-face and cyber versions of Peer Led Team Learning has facilitated understanding of learning chemistry in small groups in the two environments and effective dissemination of innovations.

Contribution to the ACS community: Recognized for providing fundamental support to chemists implementing peer teaching methods, serving in multiple capacities within the Division of Chemical Education, and providing national service to C&EN.
