CONGRATULATIONS
We are sorry that we will be saying good-bye to Justin Hess, our current Assistant Director. Justin will be joining Purdue University as Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering Education. We will miss Justin very much, but wish him well in his new position.
We also must say good-bye and good luck to Dr. Simon Atkinson, Vice Chancellor for Research, and Dr. Simon Rhodes, Dean of School of Science. Thank you to both of them for their support and we wish them well.

WELCOME
SEIRI is excited to welcome two new people to our office. Yujin Lee will join us as a SEIRI Post Doctoral Fellow, and Virginia Rhodes will continue with us as a Visiting Research Associate. Yujin Lee starts with SEIRI in June. She comes to us from Texas A&M with her PhD in Mathematics Education. Yujin did her undergraduate work in her home of South Korea. We look forward to having Yujin join the SEIRI staff. Virginia Rhodes starts in her new position with SEIRI in May. Virginia received her BA in Psychology from Notre Dame and will receive her MS in Industrial Organizational Psychology from IUPUI this May. Virginia has been working as a Research Assistant at SEIRI for the past two years and we are excited for her to continue her work with us.

JAMES PELLEGRINO
Dr. James Pellegrino is the Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor and Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also serves as Co-director of UIC's interdisciplinary Learning Sciences Research Institute. Dr. Pellegrino's research and development interests focus on children's and adult's thinking and learning and the implications of cognitive research and theory for assessment and instructional practice. He is an elected lifetime member of the National Academy of Education and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Date: Tuesday, 10/15/19

GERALDINE RICHMOND
Dr. Geraldine Richmond is the Presidential Chair in Science and Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oregon. Her research using laser spectroscopy and computational methods focuses on understanding environmentally and technologically important processes that occur at liquid surfaces. Richmond is the founding and current director of COACh, a grass-roots organization formed in 1998 that has helped over 20,000 women scientists and engineers in career advancement in the US and in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
