SEIRI welcomes Laura Judson

Laura Judson joined SEIRI as our new Administrative Assistant in January. She is an Experienced Project Manager and Research Lab Director with a history of management in higher education, private industry and entrepreneurship. Laura brings her skills in Event Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Team Management and Strategic Planning and is excited to continue her academic career at IUPUI.

2022 SEIRI Seed Grant RFP
The STEM Education Innovation and Research Institute (SEIRI) at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is pleased to announce the 2022 SEIRI Seed Grant (SSG) competition. The goal of this competition is to facilitate and support STEM education innovation and research at IUPUI. Specifically, this opportunity provides faculty members in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) departments with funding to develop, implement, and evaluate the impact of pedagogical innovations across multiple IUPUI STEM courses.
The deadline to apply for the SEIRI Seed Grant is 11:59 pm, Monday, May 31, 2022. If you have any questions, please reach out to Danka Maric at ude[dot]ui[at]ciramd. Proposals submitted after the deadline will be returned without review.

Visiting Scholar
Dr. Nadia Monrose-Mills, Department of Mathematics at The University of the Virgin Islands will be visiting SEIRI March 14-25, 2022. In addition to interacting with multiple IUPUI researchers, Nadia will be working with Brandon Sorge and Pratibha Varma-Nelson on their NSF funded Building Capacity in STEM Education Research proposal.
She will also be presenting a short talk on her work on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 3pm. Details to follow.
LSMRCE Selected for Presentation at the 2022 NSF STEM for All Video Showcase
The Louis Stokes Midwest Regional Center of Excellence (LSMRCE) has been selected for a fourth consecutive year to present at the NSF STEM for All Video Showcase competition. The annual showcase invites STEM programs to submit short videos depicting innovative, federally funded projects aimed at improving Science, Math, Engineering and CS education. This year, the showcase "Access, Inclusion, and Equity," will be held online, May 10-17, 2022.
In past years, the LSMRCE video submissions have garnered a significant amount of views and discussion board interactions. Previous LSMRCE submissions have included, Broadening Participation in STEM: Our Purpose, Our Impact (2019), Opening Pathways in STEM (2020), and LSMRCE Virtual Learning Communities (2021), which has had more than 1,800 views worldwide to date.
This year, LSMRCE is submitting a video titled, "LSAMP: A Gamechanger in STEM Inclusive Excellence," that will spotlight the impacts of the NSF-funded Louis Stokes Alliances over the past 30 years. The video will tell the story of LSAMP, why it was conceived, and how it has supported underrepresented minority students to be successful in STEM. Featured will be testimonials from students, program alumni, program administrators, and words from the family of the program's namesake, the late, Honorable Louis Stokes. We invite you to join us!
Biennial Conference on Chemical Education 2022 in Indiana
July 31 - August 4, 2022 Purdue University - West Lafayette, IN
The conference will be held on the beautiful campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in the Summer of 2022. The 27th BCCE, like all of its predecessors, is designed to provide you with opportunities for interacting with chemistry instructors of all levels in formal and informal settings. There will be a mixture of plenary lectures, symposia, workshops, chemical demonstrations, poster sessions, exhibits and tours of chemistry research areas.

Incorporate Inclusive Teaching Practices Into Your Classroom
The Inclusive STEM Teaching Project, a NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education program, is hosting a six-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from March 23 - May 4, 2022 via edX. Join a community of over 1,000 faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and staff, and register for the online course this spring.
- Advance your awareness, self-efficacy, and ability to cultivate inclusive classroom environments;
- Support your development as a reflective, inclusive practitioner;
- Engage in reflection and discussion around topics of equity and inclusion across a variety of institutional contexts;
- Implement inclusive teaching methods in your classes which will remove common barriers and enhance learning in STEM for all students.
